2011 Annual Report Message from Judy Hegge

Dear Friends of Marillac Clinic, 

During 2010, I was honored to serve as President of Marillac’s Board of Directors. I have been involved with Marillac for many years as a board member and supporter. I can say without a doubt, the mission has remained constant — to prioritize the poor and vulnerable members of our community — and through the vision, provide compassionate, innovative and essential health care.  

May 2011 marked the 23rd anniversary of Marillac Clinic. It is a time to reflect on why and how we began, grew and evolved over the years. It has been an arduous journey, the needs continue to grow as do the financial challenges a lot of us face today. Our community has responded to our financial challenges with considerable generosity and steady support.  Our 2010 year-end appeal was so successful and we are truly humbled by this outpouring of support plus inspired and encouraged by your continued response. Additionally, the Clinic relies on the unwavering support of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, St. Mary’s Hospital and our community partners. We are truly a community-funded safety net clinic. 

We are pleased to report that the Clinic was not forced to reduce needed services during this challenging time. In fact, prudent decisions were made to reduce expenses and increase efficiencies which resulted in cost savings. A highlight of the year was the expansion of Clinic hours to 6 pm and in early 2011, 8 pm for dental services to accommodate the needs of our clients. Additionally, we added dental services in Palisade for the first time. As we plan for the future and the changes that health care reform brings, be assured we will continue to seek new ways to best to serve our community. With challenge comes opportunity, and all of us at Marillac Clinic are privileged and honored to serve the poor and vulnerable members of our community. 

Thanks to you, our mission and vision are as strong and vital today as they have ever been.
